The Economic Society of America was founded by economists with a libertarian perspective regarding economic growth, freedom, free markets and liberty. We believe that these values are constrained by excessive government regulation. Our founding principles were established by great economists that preceded us, they include: Adam Smith, Bastiat, von Mises, Hayek, Schumpeter, as well as Thomas Sowell and Milton Freedman representing current economic thought.
About
Economic growth is predicated on the basic building blocks of a free market system, which is exemplified by private property, laws to govern society, a judicial system and a mechanism to enforce the law. However, without personal freedom this cannot exist. We believe that the US is drifting away from these essential concepts.
The Economic Society of America was formed to educate and enlighten those who believe in freedom and the great American experiment. Our mission is simple and can be summarized in one word: enlightenment.
One of the mechanisms that we employ to advance our philosophy, is to recognize those individuals who have contributed to freedom, liberty, knowledge and wisdom. We encourage everyone who has reviewed this website to nominate a potential recipient for the Laissez-Faire Adam Smith Fraternity Award. If you would like to join the Economic Society of America please make your voluntary contribution to Georgian International University. Those who donate $500 or more will be designated a charter member and those who contribute $1,000 or more will become a charter member of the inner circle. Georgian International University does not provide financial aid and only awards scholarships to students who are truly gifted, as well as deserving. We do not provide financial aid because it is unnecessary. Our tuition is among the lowest in the nation. We maintain this policy by focusing our efforts on graduate education in a European tradition. This is further supported by a minimal allotment to bricks and mortar. Our model establishes a student to faculty ratio of generally four to one with students throughout the world supported by Skype. It is truly interactive and each class functions like a traditional lecture with prominent professors from different countries.
Georgian International University is a 501 (c) 3 tax exempt organization. All contributions are therefore tax deductible.
The school and the curriculum are firmly rooted in maintaining traditional conservative (to the right of center) curriculum. We establish core values within each discipline. The mission of Georgian International University is to create scholars who lead.
The focal point of the institution is the Hayek School of Economics. The Hayek School of Economics curriculum emphasizes the study of traditional political economy, as well as management and finance. The school believes that these core disciplines represent the skills required to lead in the 21st century.
Our distinguished faculty, all of whom have advanced degrees, is not led by academic scholars, but by academic scholars who have succeeded in various venues.
We support causes that support our beliefs. Should you have any questions, please contact us through our affiliate, Georgian International University.

A FEW THINGS CAPITALISM CANNOT DO
Capitalism has limitations. For one, it fails to recognize when players collude either among themselves or, more important, with the government. What can I say, no one is perfect and neither is the trusty friend of freedom and prosperity, – capitalism.
MICRO-CAPITALISM – THE PANACEA FOR AFRICA
There is no gainsaying that “what one racial group has done, another racial group can do even better.” In this sense, capitalism can liberate Africa the way it did the United States. Indeed it appears to be the only panacea for Africa’s economic stagnation. This is on the assumption that a productive population can never …
